HOWES SOUND CHIPS

moving on to the depot there have been quite a few additions to the depot from its early days, crash barriers have been put up, the compound has been rebuilt, new led lights fitted (more about those on the lighting page) and details within the shed etc

new sign on the depot entrance (and new lampost)

The biggest change has been the removal of the old ratio compound and replacement using s-kits whitemetal and etched parts, still a lot to do to it including removing all the other ratio fencing but its looking really good already

I also detailed up the cabin interior using nothing more than card and masking tape shaped into the shape of a monitor, keyboard etc!!

Moving into the shed i added a raised platform and various workers

Even a depot cat on the buffer stop!

And one stalking its prey in the field at the front of the layout

Another addition has been dcc controlled flashing yard lights, they illuminate when the road is set for the depot and stop when it is'nt, made by brawa they are actually n gauge roadworks warnings but they work perfectly well on oo in a railway enviroment, a video can be seen by clicking the link below

FLASHING DEPOT LIGHTS

The latest development is the complete removal of the ratio fencing shown above and its replacement with s-kits fencing as already used on the compound area, its improved the view of the station area as its a fine mesh

the mesh has yet to be added to the fence on the above picture

another development is the removal of the old yard lights and replacement with led lights custom made by a guy in north wales, he made the heads using 4 surface mount led's per head and i have mounted them on plastic tube

i have made them removable by fitting a collar to the base board and sliding the lamp into it which in turn is secured by a screw

the lights have yet to be painted in the above pictures, i will be doing them silver
